Autumn in the Northern Vosges develops breathtaking colors.
At home, autumn makes me want to bring out my old collection of earthenware and terracotta pumpkins and pumpkins.
We are not very far from Bastberg *, the traditional territory of folk tale witches : Rest assured, even though I’m an October girl, I don’t ride my broom and I don’t turn your cars into pumpkins! I just celebrate the beautiful colors of the season to compete with the surrounding landscapes.
La Renardière is at the end of a dead end in the center of Reichshoffen, surrounded by the autumn ornaments of the tall trees by the river. Each window in the house becomes a shimmering picture, rocked by the gentle movement of red, yellow and orange leaves. What to say when a busy squirrel collects nuts and hazelnuts in front of the window ?
When the blue lightning of a kingfisher zebra the water of the Schwarzbach ? I am happy to share these happy and simple visions with my hosts and friends !
The Bastberg is a strange limestone hill, 20 km from Reichshoffen. It presents a very particular biotope for our region, which you can discover here: Le Bastberg, nature reserve.
Bastberg is also a place famous for its witches, feared and sadly abused by the inhabitants of the past. The Hanau Museum in Bouxwiller provides us with information on these beliefs and other popular roots in the region.
The building of this museum and its Alsatian collections are worth a visit anyway.
